***Warning, Political Discussion Ensues***

I hate to be a grumpy person who complains about the world... but I'm only human and I hope I will be forgiven for it.

So this whole bomb in a Starbucks thing... It now turns out that the "Bomb" was nothing but a flashlight. A flashlight.

Now, I'm the first to admit that people make mistakes. I make more than most people on an average day. I blame it on my ADD which has been omnipresent in my last few blog posts. This being said, I have no problem with the Police having made a mistake about the supposed "bomb".

But... (dang it, there's always a "but" isn't there) I've noticed a disturbing trend in the making of and the not correcting of mistakes.

Case in point: The police find what they believe to be a bomb in a Starbucks. Following procedure, they evacuate the people and call out the bomb squad. So far so good. THEN they report to the media that the "bomb" was powerful enough to have killed several people had it gone off. THEN they come out several days later and say that testing revealed the presence of ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS. In fact, it was just an old flashlight with corroded batteries.

Hold on... I thought they said that the "bomb" was powerful enough to have killed several people had it gone off. If this is my bomb squad, and they not only cannot tell the difference between a bomb and a flashlight (okay, give them the benefit of the doubt, they were all out late the night before partying with the K9 division, it happens) BUT ALSO report to the entire world that the supposed bomb could have killed several people because it was so powerful... well... that leaves me questioning what these people are doing on a bomb squad.

Or perhaps MagLite is producing bomb shaped flashlights...
I smell a coverup...
that's got to be it...
MagLite is the real enemy here.

Okay... sorry for my grumpy and univited comments. Forgive me. And do have a good day. Read my other posts... they're much more light hearted.
